More J-isms

J is learning to tell time now, this is a conversation from a few days ago...
Me: What time is it?
J, walking to the microwave: 1-0-7 (he said each number slowly & deliberately)
Me, clarifying: It's one-oh-seven?
J, exasperated with my ignorance: Not oh! one- ZERO-seven
Geez, what was I thinking? I just got schooled by a 3-year-old. Ouch!

This was when he was 2 years old and he loved (still does!) to drink apple punch...
J: Mommy, I want some juice.
Me: Wait a minute.
J, watching me pour it into his sippie cup: Is that my juice?
Me, cranky: No, it's mine.
J: That's MY cup!!
Me: Yes, this is your juice.
J: You were teasing me?
Me: It's called sarcasm.
J: No, it's apple punch.

To this day, K and I refer to sarcasm as apple punch.

J's Hives

After playing outside for a bit yesterday afternoon, J tells me that he is really itchy. I pulled up his shirt and saw all of these large pink whelps (hives, I found out later). I called the pediatrician's office and was instructed by the nurse to give him some benedryl. He was given 1 teaspoon around 4 pm. By 6 pm, he was falling asleep at the dinner table and told me that he needed a nap. Very, very unlike him.

As I carried him to the bathroom, he told me that he did not need a bath. I agreed. I put him on the potty and his eyes were closing. He looked at me and carefully said, "everything is good." Very matter-of-fact. It was so funny.

After he was in bed a bit, I went in to check on him and he opened his eyes and said, "Mommy, I having a good nap!" I bet he was!

According to his doctor, most likely cause- strawberries. Go figure. I have to keep him on benedryl until they go away completely. Poor fella!

Super Slide

J is holding E as they go down the tunnel slide at the big park. You can see that she is very excited at the top and she looks terrified as they are going down. What is so cute is that she squeals in delight at the bottom- I couldn't catch them both and get that on video- maybe next time.

Talking Toys

It seems that people think it is a good idea to buy my children talking toys. At the store, I am sure that they are so very cute and difficult to resist. At home, in the middle of the night... not so much! A few weeks ago, it was a beautiful night so I left my bedroom windows open for the breeze. As I was deep asleep and dreaming, I could hear a voice. In the few seconds it takes to come to, I heard "Well hello there!" I was scared- to say the least. The voice then starting singing the alphabet and that's when I recognized Winnie the Pooh. Yeah, he was coming through E's baby monitor. He was low on batteries and took it upon himself to start talking. He ended up spending the rest of the night in the living room in the O-F-F position.

As if that wasn't enough, I was woken to "Peek-a-boo, I seeeeee you!" last week at 4:11 am. WHAT!?!?! This was a new birthday toy that I was not familiar with. I did not recognize the voice. I ran to E's room and searched for the culprit. It was her new peek-a-boo puppy. How can such cute toy be so scary?

One Short Year

It is hard to believe how much our girl has grown this past year. She has been a huge blessing and I cannot imagine our lives without her. Those days in the NICU were terrifying and overwhelming, but she fought and our lives have been all the more beautiful because of her. Happy birthday to my precious girl!!!

Princess Party

She made a royal mess, cake was even in her ears!

Our princess, in her hat.

Her beautiful castle cake- Princess Aurora came off the top and was her very own cupcake. Thanks, Ape!

Girls Just Wanna... Eat Cake

As J says in the video, "she is making a hot mess," but she is definitely having a great time!

Smart Baby

E has recently started pointing at everything. It is really cute and she is so proud of herself when she recognizes something new. Well, today we went to the store to get some last minute things for her party. We got 2 princess balloons and the lady behind us asked her, "are you turning one?" E smiled and pointed at her. The lady thought that she was the smartest baby since she knew how old she was- she thought that E was holding up one finger to signify her age!

Who was I to tell her any differently? :)
