Never too early for Halloween

We love dressing up and we really love candy... so naturally we love Halloween!! Since we just got back from Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (a bunch of other people are as nutty as we are) I am going to Halloween-up this blog.... enjoy.

Magic Kingdom

We took the kids to the Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party last night. Since it is a Halloween event, the kids got to dress up (Luke Skywalker and Cinderella) and trick-or-treat around the park. It was very cute and the lines were amazingly short. We could have ridden everything in the park if we wanted to.

Since J loved the water slide at the hotel, he wanted Daddy to take him on Thunder Mountain. I was very worried about this. Well, there was no need because he thought that it was great. He put his hands in the air and had a total blast. He wanted to ride Space Mountain but it was closed- maybe next time.

We got back to the hotel room around midnight and decided to launch into the candy- YUM! I would definitely recommend this event to anyone with little kids.

Pool Party

We were really shocked when J wanted to go on the water slide and even more when he LOVED it and went again and again. Even though I am not much of a pool person, we spent a lot of time there. :) This video is of him coming down the last stretch and landing in the water.

Animal Adventures

We had the most wonderful view of the Savannah from our balcony, we were amazed to be able to sit in bed and watch the giraffes eat. The giraffe in the picture with J was very responsive to my loud little people, he got closer when they hollered for him. I really think that he would have come closer if the spiky grass wasn't stopping him. Daddy planned this trip all by himself and we we had the best time!!

If you listen, you can hear E saying "giraffe," she loved the balcony and would run out there at any opportunity.

Night Fight

We now have a Clone Trooper among us ~thanks, Mrs. Jean!! She surprised us at church yesterday with this awesome talking helmet. Of course we all wore it and had to get some pictures of J as the bad guy. .

Here is a video of J as Luke and Daddy as Darth Vader fighting with their very cool glowing light sabers (thanks MyMy & Papa!!) in the dark. It is much cooler in person, but you can see that this is a regular activity in our home. I don't know who is more Star Wars crazy- Daddy or J. I love how J collapses in the end when he knows that he lost the battle.

Surgery postponed until 10/2

I just wanted to let everyone know that K's surgery has been postponed until Friday, October 2nd. We do not have a time yet. Please keep us in your prayers...

Chocolate Chip Cookies

This was J's first time making chocolate chip cookies. He can crack an egg like a pro, this kid. He is opening the microwave because we had to soften the brown sugar. Ignore the bread, it is drying out for the French toast I am making later. (An honest-to-goodness real chef ~thanks, Nick!~ taught me that trick.)

Oh, he liked the brown sugar a lot- he asked if he could eat the rest of the bag.

Our resident taste-tester approved of our joint effort. Little miss can say "cookie," no problems whatsoever.

The baker himself was satisfied with the end result. He said that he likes them better than our brownies. I didn't have the heart to tell him that we forgot the baking soda. Oops!

Funny Kids

If I heard her correctly (and knowing Miss E, I did) she said her first sentence today:
"I want cheetos." Oh, I am so proud. haha

The other day J was asking Daddy about the stickers that came with his Highlights calendar.
J: What sticker is this?
Daddy: This says Earth Day.
J: Earth Day?
Daddy: Yes.
J: Earth Day. Is that when aliens come to earth?
I don't know where he gets these ideas but they greatly amuse me. What a kid!

Bye-Bye Baby

MyMy and Papa gave Miss E a big girl princess canopy bed for Christmas last year. Well, today he came over and put it together for her. I will say that it was bittersweet taking apart her crib. Her initial look of surprise is so cute; it took her less than 5 seconds to realize that it was her bed. She jumped on and started laughing right away. It is so girly and sweet~ I want one, too! Thank you, Papa & MyMy!!

Apples of My Eye

We made a chocolate covered caramel apple with white chips this afternoon and the kiddos LOVED it. So easy, so fun and sooooo yummy. We will definitely be doing this again.

School Update

Many of you have asked me how J is adapting to preschool. He loves it. When we pick him up, he is so excited about his morning. In fact, he is really mad at me that Monday is a holiday and he has to stay home. "It is not a holiday. I am going to school." This will be interesting.

Lately if he does something bad and I did not actually see him do it, he says "You did not see me." My response to this has been "God saw you!" Well, the other day I was inquiring about his day...

Me: Were you a good boy today?
J: Yes
Me: Were you bad today? Did your teacher have to yell at you? (you have to be specific with this kid)
J, LONG pause- eyes wide: God did not tell you that!!!

I laughed so hard at this. He thinks that God will tattle on him! I am definitely going to capitalize on this. :) ~insert evil little laugh~
